Road Trips To Liliw & Hacienda Pisong Kape

As I was trying so hard to retrieve some of my lost files, (because I accidentally damaged my external drive that has all my stored files) I found this pic of Hacienda Pisong Kape, our favourite stop-over to stretch our legs from an early morning on-set of driving the Antipolo to Lukban road through the years of road trips along Rizal going to Liliw for some of our footwear production projects. This is also a favorite watering hole for cyclists & we’ve seen lots of them here.

Hacienanda Pisong Kape is really just a humble roadside carenderia with its own charm, clean, peaceful & inexpensive where we have our usual combo of goto & tokwa’t baboy for breakfast.

One of the things that will catch your attention are the almost grayish-white tables & chairs due to scouring when cleaning. The name also caught me the very first time we ate there back in 2009, & the story behind it is that when a customer orders food, the coffee will then be given at a discounted rate of 1.00, hence the name. Just opposite this eatery is another roadside carenderia, we’ve eaten there many times, too & the food is good especially the Batangas goto. I Miss this place.

I'm still trying to retrieve more pictures, once I have some more I'll update this post. Also next time I'm there, I'll try to encourage the owner to put up a Facebook account because people are actually tagging them, without their knowledge :).

  1. Such a unique name found only in a remote area, but inside the city, still, there's more to it.

    1. Thanks Daniel. I actually tried, but nothing worked. The files I have are far too precious for me since the drive contains almost all of my design files all these years.

    1. I hope that when you blog about Liliw you will feature more than their sandals from the Gat Tayaw fair. My post about Liliw will be my no-holds barred take on their footwear industry :)

  7. Liliw, Laguna is heaven on earth--for shoe lovers, that is. It is known for its 'tsinelas' (slipper/slides) industry. Gat Tayaw is a street lined with retail shoe stores selling very cheap but nice slides and shoes. Any woman will fall in love with Gat Tayaw! They sell ladies's, men's and childrens slides and shoes. They also sell bags.

My favorite stores? Entrada, Banhai, Jeff-c's, Patty's (just off Gat Tayaw) and the block near the Church. They sell some designs exclusive to their shops.

    1. This is true Leira, actually their footwear products has tremendously improved since 2009 when we had started developing manufacturers from Liliw as suppliers for Unitop. But I cannot vouch that the construction of the shoes that you buy from these stores you had mentioned are correct or that it actually have good fittings. Sadly, the manufacturers in Liliw has not totally listened to our efforts to teach them the scientific way of footwear processing & manufacturing. Mostly of the shoes that you buy are just good to look at, but you wouldn't really wear them longer than 2 weeks, primarily because the main market of LIliw are tourists. I'm sure that a lot of people will not agree but I know what I am talking about since I had been around the different gawaan in Liliw, the decent & outhouse gawaan. I will be discussing these industry issues in my future posts which would also be including other areas that manufactures footwear such as Binan, Marikina & Gapan.

    1. Just going through the shops of Liliw's Gat Tayaw fair is an experience and going to their beautiful church & eating at a couple of famous local restos after walking through the quaint little town of Liliw. You will enjoy Hacienda Pisong Kape just as much.
